His main goal was freedom. A simple and hardworking woman who loves freedom...
Although her real name is Gabrielle Bonheur, the world knows her as Coco Chanel. Gabriel Chanel was born in 1883 (in some sources, 1893) in Auvergne, France, and grew up in an orphanage. In fact, who could have known that a woman who grew up here would one day be the creator and founder of a brand that will be heard all over the world?
According to many, certain conditions are required for a person to achieve great success, but Coco (Coco-) didn`t think like that, she opened her own small dress shop at the first best opportunity, and later the simple clothes she made for herself became loved by many.
At the age of 18, she starts living in an apartment in Aubazine, France, where Catholic girls live. During her 6 years of living here, Chanel learned to sew and decided to become a tailor, and so it happened.
Having lived a difficult life, Chanel first opened her own small shop that started as a fashion house in 1909. In 1910, Chanel already had 21 hat shops.
The beginning of the Perfume Era at Chanel
Coco Chanel began to gain wealthy and luxury-loving customers. It was at this time that he met Ernest Beaux, who worked in one of the famous Russian perfume houses. Beatux had in his hand the formula of the perfumes he had prepared while working for one of the famous Russian perfume companies. And Coco told Chanel that she wanted to value them. Having an enterprising spirit, Chanel chose one of the perfumes and sent them in small glass containers as a New Year`s gift to her wealthiest customers. When the perfumes in these small bottles began to see demand from customers, they decided to produce more perfumes.
When Chanel was asked how to name her first perfume, she said, "I always start all my collections on the 5th day of the 5th month, I believe this brings me success." This is how the name of "Chanel No. 5" perfume, which is one of the most famous perfumes in the world today, was given.
In 1922, No. 5 was launched in stores and became one of the best-selling perfumes. But it did not end there, after that, new ones were added to the list of perfumes of the Chanel brand.

She never married. When she was asked, "Why didn`t you marry the Duke of Westminster?", she said, "There has been a Duke of Westminster to this day, but there is only one Chanel in the world."
When World War II broke out in 1939, Chanel closed all its stores. However, he spent that time at home making haute couture clothes (especially high-quality clothes made to order by the leading fashion houses).
In 1945, Chanel went to Switzerland. In 1954, when he came back to Paris, Coco returned to the world of fashion. He opened a new shop. Thanks to loyal British and American customers, it has regained its former glory.
At the end of his life...
At the beginning of 1971, Koko could not be prevented by old age and became ill. But despite this, he was able to prepare the spring collection.
He died on January 10, 1983, a Sunday morning.
