Oud (also known as agarwood) is the naturally-formed resin of Aquilaria malaccensis. Since the late 20th century it has become a cornerstone note in niche and high-end Western perfumery.
Oud is used as a base note, lending fragrances deep, lasting smoky-balsamic richness. Its most popular partners are rose, amber, leather, saffron and patchouli.
